This is our Tradify verdict specifically for plumbers. For UK pricing across all three plans, certificates, AI tools and our overall rating, see our main Tradify review.

What Is Tradify?

Tradify is a job management platform built specifically for tradespeople. It handles the full workflow from first customer enquiry through to final invoice – quoting, scheduling, job tracking, invoicing, and payment chasing – all in one app on your phone, tablet, or desktop. For plumbers, that means no more switching between a quoting tool, a diary, and a separate invoicing app. Everything connects.

What Tradify Does Well for Plumbers

Quoting on the go

Build a professional branded quote on your phone while you’re still at the property – pull in saved labour rates and materials, attach photos, and send it before you’ve pulled off the driveway. Customers contact multiple plumbers and the first professional quote usually wins. Tradify makes same-day quoting realistic even when you’re doing three jobs a day.

Quote → job → invoice without re-entering anything

When a customer accepts your quote, it converts to a scheduled job in one tap. When the job is complete, it converts to an invoice the same way. You never re-enter job details at any stage – a significant time saving across a full week of work.

Automatic follow-up reminders

Tradify flags quotes that haven’t been opened or accepted, so nothing falls through the cracks during a busy week. It also sends automatic payment reminders on overdue invoices so you’re chasing less manually.

Built for UK trades

Supports GBP pricing, VAT calculations, and the workflows UK plumbers actually use. Not a generic platform adapted for trades as an afterthought – support understands trade businesses specifically.

Customer history

Every job, quote, and invoice stored against the customer automatically. When a customer calls back six months later, you can pull up the full history in seconds. Particularly useful for plumbers who do repeat work or manage ongoing maintenance contracts.

What We Found Testing Tradify (and What Carries Over to Plumbing)

How we tested: in September 2026 we ran a real quote, job and invoice through a Tradify trial account. To be upfront, the test job was an electrical one (a consumer unit upgrade), not a plumbing job. Nothing below depends on the trade, which is why we think it carries straight over, but we have not priced a plumbing job in Tradify ourselves.
  • Private margins on every line. Each line has its own cost, markup and gross profit. The customer’s copy only shows the selling price, so your merchant prices and markup stay private.
  • Enter the cost first, then the markup. One quirk: if you type a cost while the price is still £0, Tradify shows the markup as -100% because it works the markup back from the price. Set the cost, then the markup or price, and it behaves.
  • Quote to job in one step. Accepting the quote offered to create the job straight away, with the customer, address and description already filled in.
  • Five ways to invoice an accepted quote. The entire quote, selected line items, a percentage, a fixed amount, or the remaining amount, which covers deposits, stage payments and the final balance.
  • Deposits can be a penny or two out. A 30% deposit showed as £186.75 in the dialog but the invoice came out at £186.76, and the deposit plus the remaining-amount invoice totalled £622.52 against a £622.50 quote. Only 2p, but worth a glance at the final figure before you send it.
  • Card payments are there, but need setting up. Each invoice has an “accept card payments” option, once card payments are connected (transaction fees apply).

Pricing a Plumbing Job in Tradify: A Worked Example

Here is how replacing three radiators would be laid out as Tradify line items. The figures are illustrative, not current merchant prices, so swap in your own costs and rates.

Line itemQtyCost eachMarkupCustomer sees
Radiators3£85.0020%£306.00
TRV and lockshield valve sets3£18.0020%£64.80
Inhibitor1£15.0020%£18.00
Fittings and sundries1£25.0020%£30.00
Drain down, fit, refill and balance, per day1––£300.00
Total (before VAT)£718.80

In this example the materials and hire cost £349.00 and are sold at £418.80, so the job carries £69.80 of margin on top of the labour. Tradify shows you that gross profit on the quote without it ever appearing on the customer’s copy. If you are VAT registered, 20% takes the total to £862.56. On a job this size many tradespeople skip a percentage deposit and only ask for the materials up front, which in Tradify is a fixed-amount invoice for £418.80 (plus VAT, if you charge it), with the remaining amount invoiced on completion.

Worth Setting Up Once

A few things make plumbing quotes in Tradify much quicker after the first week:

  • Price list items for your common parts. Radiators by size, valve sets, cylinders and fittings, each with your cost and markup, so a quote is a case of picking items.
  • A deposit before you order. For anything you have to buy in, raise a percentage or fixed-amount invoice against the accepted quote first, then the remaining amount on completion.
  • Gas paperwork if you do it. If you also do gas work, Tradify lists Gas Safety Records and service reminders, but certificates start on the Pro plan.

Where Tradify Falls Short

Limitations to know about

  • No free plan – paid only. There’s a free trial but no permanent free tier. A barrier for plumbers just starting out with low job volume.
  • Not designed for large teams – works well for sole traders and teams up to around 10. Larger operations are better served by Commusoft or simPRO.
  • Limited reporting – functional but not deep. For detailed job costing and profit analysis, you’ll need to connect Tradify to Xero or QuickBooks.
  • No offline mode – requires a signal to work. If you regularly work in basements, plant rooms, or poor signal areas, this can be frustrating.

Who Is Tradify Best Suited To?

Good fit

  • Self-employed plumbers doing 5+ jobs per week
  • Plumbing businesses with 2–5 engineers
  • Plumbers currently quoting by text or in Word
  • Anyone spending hours per week on avoidable admin

Less suited

  • Plumbers just starting out with very low job volume
  • Larger contractors needing enterprise workforce management
  • Plumbers regularly working in no-signal areas

Tradify vs Jobber for Plumbers

The most common comparison for UK plumbers is Tradify vs Jobber. Both are solid – but they suit different stages of a business.

Our recommendation

Tradify

Built for UK trades and billed in pounds, from £34 per user a month. Quoting, scheduling, invoicing and online payments, plus deposits, automatic quote and invoice chasing and gas safety certificates on the Pro plan. The better fit for most UK plumbers.

Also strong

Jobber

More automation options, a log-in client portal and two-way text messaging built in. Worth a look for larger teams, but it bills UK accounts in US dollars, with team pricing aimed at bigger businesses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Tradify take a deposit on a plumbing job?

Yes. In our test, an accepted Tradify quote could be invoiced as the entire quote, selected line items, a percentage, a fixed amount or the remaining amount. That covers a deposit before you order materials, stage payments on longer jobs, and the final balance on completion. In our test a 30% deposit came out 1p higher than the dialog showed, so check the final figure before sending.

Is Tradify good for plumbers?

Yes. Tradify is well suited to self-employed plumbers and small plumbing businesses, with strong quoting, job conversion, and invoicing features. It scores 4.2/5 in our rating and is our pick for most UK plumbers.

How much does Tradify cost for plumbers?

Tradify pricing for UK plumbers starts at £34 per month per user on the Lite plan (Pro is £37 and Plus £44), with a 14-day free trial and no card required to start.

Is Jobber or Tradify better for plumbers?

For most UK plumbers we recommend Tradify: it bills in pounds from £34 per user a month and covers quoting, scheduling, invoicing and online payments, with deposits, automatic chasing and gas safety certificates on the Pro plan. Jobber has more automation options and a log-in client portal, but bills UK accounts in US dollars.

Does Tradify work offline?

No. Tradify requires a signal to function, which can be a limitation for plumbers regularly working in basements, plant rooms, or other low-signal locations.

Verdict – Is Tradify Worth It for Plumbers?

Tradify is a genuinely good tool for UK plumbers – especially sole traders and small teams moving off paper or spreadsheets. The time saved on quoting, job conversion, and invoice chasing comfortably justifies the monthly cost for most plumbers doing regular volume. If Tradify helps you win one extra job per month because your quote arrived faster, it pays for itself many times over.

Against Jobber, we’d still pick Tradify for most UK plumbers. It bills in pounds, starts at £34 per user a month, and its Pro plan adds deposits, automatic quote and invoice chasing and gas safety certificates. Jobber has more automation options and a log-in client portal, but in our hands-on Jobber test it billed a UK account in US dollars, with team pricing aimed at bigger businesses.

Jobber is worth a look if you run a larger team and want its extra automation. For sole traders and small plumbing businesses, Tradify is the better value.
