What We Actually Tested
The job we fed it
A fuse board swap, an electrical job, chosen because it’s a routine job with a clear correct answer to check the output against.
What it got right
Sensible itemisation, correct components and quantities, materials priced reasonably.
What we found wrong
- Labour badly underpriced, a full day of tradesperson labour came back at £35, nowhere near a real UK rate, a pricing issue that would apply equally to a bricklayers job.
- No certificate flagging, the job we tested needed a formal certificate and the draft said nothing about it. We haven’t independently tested the drafter against a per-thousand-bricks or day-rate CIS quote.
- Leftover placeholder line, a demo line item was left in the quote unpriced rather than cleared or flagged.
What the founder fixed, confirmed on the electrical case
- Labour now prices from your own hourly rate in Business Profile, or realistic UK trade rates instead of a flat guess, this fix is general to the pricing engine, not trade-specific
- The drafter now flags when a job needs a certificate and names which one, we’ve only confirmed this for the electrical certificate case we originally tested
- If a quote already has line items, it now asks whether to replace or add underneath
All three issues were reported to VioTrade’s founder, Pranjal, and fixed within a day, a genuinely fast turnaround. The labour-pricing fix is trade-agnostic and should apply just as well to a bricklayers job. The certificate-flagging fix is the one we’d want to see proven on bricklayers work specifically before calling it confirmed.
